TV anchor Robin Huebner returns after nasty spat

Capping a long-running local TV news drama in Fargo, Robin Huebner, 50, will return to a news anchor chair, this time with former competitor WDAY-TV, the Fargo Forum reports. (She’ll also contribute as a writer to the Forum.)

Her move to the 5 p.m. co-anchor position at WDAY puts her in direct competition with Valley News Live anchor Stephanie Goetz, a 27-year-old former WDAY weekend anchor who replaced Huebner at 10 p.m. on Valley News Live and also anchors at 5 p.m., the Forum reports.

Last year, Huebner had a ugly, public departure from former employer KVLY-KXJB (Valley News Live), which resulted in an age and gender discrimination lawsuit she filed against Hoak Media, the parent company of the Fargo duopoly, Media Bistro recalls. Hoak denied the allegations. The lawsuit is still pending.

The dispute between Huebner and station management began nearly a year ago, when the station announced she would be reassigned from her longtime post as 6 and 10 p.m. anchor, Media Bistro notes. In October, Huebner gave her two-weeks notice, saying she felt she had no other option; she said station management responded by immediately showing her the door.
