SurveyUSA/KSTP: Marriage amendment supporters have big lead

A new poll from SurveyUSA and KSTP shows that 52 percent of Minnesotans favor defining marriage as between one man and one woman in the state’s constitution. Only 37 percent flat out oppose the amendment and 11 percent are undecided or will not vote on the issue.

These poll results are a bit surprising considering that MPR reported earlier this week that opponents of the bill have a major cash advantage and a variety of companies and notable Minnesotans have made public statements opposing the amendment.

General Mills, Reuters, Marylin Carlson Nelson and Garrison Keillor have all publicly denounced the amendment. A group of local church ladies has even launched a crusade against it.
