Taking full advantage of the hype generated by the “veepstakes,” Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s campaign has created a free iPhone and Android application to alert supporters when Romney makes his vice presidential pick.
Speculation about Romney’s “short list” has been intense, and observers believe that among the most likely picks is former Minn. Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
ABC News’ Jonathan Karl reported on “Good Morning America” that the Romney campaign has told at least two VP short-listers to stand by for a potential announcement any day now with Mitt Romney back stateside and just over three weeks remaining until the Republican National Convention in Tampa.
In London, where people are busy betting on the Olympics, gamblers also can get 11-8 odds on Tim Pawlenty as Mitt Romney’s vice presidential choice, Huffington Post reports. The odds are 2-1 on Sen. Rob Portman and 7-1 on Sen. Marco Rubio.
Political foes are collecting specific talking points to use against Pawlenty if he gets the nod, the Fargo Forum’s Don Davis notes.
