Cool front breezing through state

July ended as the second warmest on record in the Twin Cities. All 31 days hit 80 degrees or higher — something that has never happened in the historical record, the Pioneer Press notes. But this weekend should be different – noticeably cooler.

Friday will hit about 91, with possible showers and thunderstorms, even possibly severe overnight, the National Weather Service says.

The weekend:

Saturday: High near 81, with another good chance for rain and an overnight low of 59.

Sunday: Sunny, high near 78 and a low of 58.
