Minnesotans in Congress vote party line

Members of Congress have cast more than 1,900 roll call votes since convening last January, and a huge number of those members voted the party line for a vast majority of those, MinnPost reports.

Most members of Minnesota’s congressional delegation have voted with their party more than 90 percent of the time, and they have good company: nearly three-quarters of all members of Congress. Among Minnesotans, Republican Rep. John Kline (97 percent) and Democratic Sen. Al Franken (96 percent) vote with their parties most frequently, according to the Washington Post’s 112th Congress vote tracker.

Rep. Collin Peterson, who sides with his party just 57 percent of the time, was an outlier.

MinnPost also has an interactive chart that plots the party loyalty for Minnesota’s congressional delegation.
