Pawlenty: Obama did nothing, except kill bin Laden

Potential vice presidential contender Tim Pawlenty, traversing the nation stumping for Mitt Romney, told a Miami radio station Thursday that with the exception of killing Osama Bin Laden, President Obama doesn’t have anything to brag about, the Star Tribune reports.

Meanwhile, not willing to wait until Romney actually announces his vice presidential running mate, the Obama campaign is aiming a few words of criticism at all those reported to be on his short list, the Associated Press reports.

Pawlenty? The former Minnesota governor is a fee-raiser whose record “is painful for the middle-class families who lived under his leadership,” the Obama campaign argues.

NBC News says it is down to three: Pawlenty, Ohio Sen. Rob Portman and Wis. Rep. Paul Ryan. Pawlenty and Portman have long been viewed as favorites. The GOP is split on Ryan, Politico says.

Is an announcement imminent?

Here’s an interesting tidbit among the breathless coverage of Romney’s veepstakes: timpawlenty.com was blank as of Wednesday night, with a white screen that read simply: Please come back later. If history is a guide, that could be a clue that Pawlenty is a likely choice, the Examiner reports. In 2008, Sarah Palin’s page was similarly “scrubbed” the night before she was tapped to be John McCain’s running mate, the Examiner says, citing an observation by Newsninja2012.
