Medical examiner: Death of Wis. girl accidental

A preliminary autopsy report indicates 3-year-old girl Renna Williams died of accidental drowning near her home in northwest Wisconsin, the Star Tribune reports. The girl went missing Tuesday evening. Divers found her body late Wednesday afternoon in a canal.

Burnett County Medical Examiner Mike Maloney tells KARE 11, “There were no signs of foul play,”

A family friend told WCCO that Renna liked to be near the water.

According to KSTP, investigators are not saying whether Renna’s death was an accident, or whether a crime was committed.
