President Obama will address the Democratic National Convention Thursday night. What do Minnesota Democrats want to hear? Some wouldn’t mind a softening of rhetoric and an emphasis on the common good over partisanship.
While many were looking forward to the president’s speech, some are looking as far ahead as 2016. Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar’s busy schedule of networking has fed speculation about her name appearing somewhere on a presidential ticket.
Klobuchar dropped in on the Iowa delegation (delivering the Sarah Palin-inspired line “I can see Iowa from my porch”). But she was far from the only aspiring Democratic candidate to do that.
Another open question about 2016 is where the Democrats will hold their party convention. Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak hopes the Twin Cities will be in the running.
