American Crystal exec says replacement workers getting job done

An American Crystal Sugar Co. executive says the company’s replacement workers are handling this fall’s sugar beet harvest well, nearly 14 months after the company locked out its union workers in a contract dispute, the Associated Press reports.

Meanwhile, the company and workers are arguing in court over whether the employees should get unemployment benefits, the AP says.

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton again this week urged both sides to settle and offered his own personal help, Forum Communications reported.

The company offers its take on the contract talks on this web page. Here’s the union’s side.
