Joe Senser blasts prosecutor in wife’s case

There was a short hearing Monday in the case of Amy Senser, who is asking a judge to be let out of prison while she appeals her conviction of two counts of criminal vehicular homicide, the Star Tribune reports. The judge said he would issue an order.

But it was more interesting outside the courtroom, where her husband Joe Senser made a 16-minute speech, at times emotional. Near tears, he defended his wife and blasted any portrayal of her as a wealthy Edina housewife. He also took aim at Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman for politicizing the case. A spokesman for Freeman’s office declined comment. Senser also said Freeman lied about his wife being intoxicated at the time of his wife’s crash, KSTP reported.

Senser is serving a 41-month sentence for the fatal hit-and-run accident that killed a Roseville man last August on a freeway exit ramp in Minneapolis.

Joe Senser also asked the media to stop referring to him as a former Minnesota Viking and he apologized to the team because reporters covering the case continually mention that he was a former player.

It was in late August that the Minnesota Court of Appeals said District Judge Daniel Mabley needed to explain his decision that Amy Senser remain in prison during her appeal.
