George Sturgis Pillsbury has died after suffering a debilitating stroke several days ago, the Star Tribune reported.
He was 91.
Pillsbury, an iconic figure in Minnesota’s commerce and political landscape for more than 50 years, was surrounded by family members when he died early Saturday morning at his Wayzata home, the Star Tribune said.
Pillsbury served as a Senator in Minnesota’s District 33 from 1971-72, and District 42 from 1973-82.
He was also the grandson of Charles A. Pillsbury, the builder of the flour-milling Pillsbury Co.
