St. Paul Chamber Orchestra doesn’t vote on contract, lockout begins

Musicians with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra declined to vote on management’s contract offer Sunday, triggering a lockout.  The SPCO cancelled all concerts through November fourth.

Sunday’s development was no surprise because musicians said last week they do not plan to vote on the contract offer until the 31st.

The SPCO cancellations mean both of the state’s major orchestra’s are idle. The Minnesota Orchestra locked out musicians in a similar labor dispute at the start of October.
