Study: N.D. sends most racist tweets about Obama; Minn. 10th

North Dakota has earned the dubious distinction of posting the most racist tweets on Twitter about President Barack Obama before and after the general election last week, Detroit Lakes-Online reported.

The research group Floatingsheep examined 1 to 5 percent of tweets posted on Twitter  Nov. 1 to Nov. 7 that had geographical data attached. Of the posts examined, 395 of the tweets included references to Obama, the election and one of two explicit racial slurs.

Minnesota came in 10th in the analysis, the group said.

If there’s any positive take-away from the analysis, the sample represented a minute number of the posts on Twitter, since there were 31 million tweets posted on Election Day alone, DL-Online reported.

The group displayed the data on an interactive map on their site.
