Mayor Chris Coleman took a shot at the Red Bull Crashed Ice course built in downtown St. Paul for this week’s main event.
The Crashed Ice World Championship begins Thursday and runs through Sunday.
The Pioneer Press captured the mayor as he glided down the icy track (they also got a couple shots of a spill):
Coleman was joined by city council members Chris Tolbert and Melvin Carter III. MPR took some photos.
Race organizers say Thursday’s competition is being pushed back to 5 p.m. because the extreme cold is causing the track’s ice to chip.
KSTP says highs are expected to reach 10 degrees.
