Best Buy rewarding loyal customers by expanding perk program

Best Buy customers are getting an increase in rewards for their loyalty, Minnesota Public Radio reports.

The Richfield-based electronics giant announced that starting Sunday, the company’s Reward Zone program will start giving $5 in points for every $100 spent, up from the current rate of $4 in points for every $100 spent.

Carly Morris, a spokeswoman for Best Buy, said many retailers offer many different option, but “this is an amount that we know resonates with our market.”

Plus, Morris added, “We just really wanted to reward those customers who are most loyal to Best Buy.”

News of the change in the program comes a day after a 16 percent jump in the price of its shares after Samsung announced it will open “mini-stores” inside more than 1,400 Best Buy locations.
