Grand slam in 8th lifts Orioles past Twins, 9-5

A grand slam by the Orioles’ Chris Davis took away the Twins’ one-run lead in the bottom of the eighth, lifting Baltimore to victory at Camden Yards Friday, 9-5.

Davis made baseball history, becoming the fourth player in MLB history to hit a home run in four straight games to start the season.

Starting pitcher Liam Hendriks allowed four runs over 4 2/3 innings in his first start of the season for the Twins. Relief pitcher Casey Fien (0-1) took the loss for the Twins.

Baltimore scored first in the bottom of the third, but their one-run lead was quickly erased in the fourth when the Twins scored four. The Orioles scored in the bottom of the inning to cut the Twins’ lead to 4-2.

The Orioles tied the Twins at 4 with two more runs in the fifth inning, before Minnesota went ahead again with one run in the sixth.

Four Twins had two hits a piece, including Brian Dozier — who led the team with three RBIs, including the go-ahead RBI in the sixth.

The loss dropped the Twins to 2-2 on the season. The Twins and Orioles play again Saturday night in Baltimore.
