Morneau RBI in 9th lifts Twins over Orioles, 6-5

An error by Baltimore’s Chris Davis and RBI single by Justin Morneau with two outs in the ninth helped push the Twins past the Orioles 6-5 Saturday night at Camden Yards, MLB.com reports.

The score was tied 5-5 going into the ninth when the Orioles put in closer Jim Johnson.

The Twins’ Aaron Hicks reached first after he hit  a grounder that rolled through Davis’ legs, and a two-out walk to Josh Willingham advanced him to second.

Hicks then scored after Morneau drove a single up the middle.

Morneau led the Twins with three hits. Chris Parmalee hit a two-run blast in a four-run third inning for the Twins, his first homer of the year.

Josh Roenicke, who pitched three scoreless innings in relief of starting pitcher Vance Worley, picked up the victory, his first this season.

Closer Glen Perkins came in to pitch the ninth to pick up his first save of the season.

The win helped the Twins improve their record to 3-2 on the season, and earn their first win in Baltimore since April 21, 2011. The Orioles’ record fell to 3-2.

The victory comes a day after the Orioles deflated the Twins in the eighth inning with a Davis grand slam homer. The Orioles ended up winning 9-5.

The teams wrap up their three-game series Sunday.
