Search for Kira Trevino expanded to Maplewood, St. Paul parks

Family members, friends and volunteers continued to search for Kira Trevino Saturday, 43 days after the St. Paul woman went missing, KSTP reported.

The search continued a day after a May 28 trial date was set for Jeffrey Trevino, who has been charged with second degree murder in the case.

The Pioneer Press says about 40 people turned up to help search the chain of lakes around Keller Lake.

Kira Trevino, 30, went missing in February and is presumed dead after investigators found blood in her car and the Trevino’s St. Paul home.

Jeffrey Trevino, 39, pleaded not guilty to charges in Ramsey County District Court last month, and is being held in the Ramsey County Jail on $1 million bail.

Joining the search again Saturday was Trevino’s father, Jay Steger.

The search Saturday will cover roughly four miles of shoreline starting at Gervais Mill Park and will follow the water all the way down to Lake Phalen throughout the weekend, KSTP reports.

The search party will gather again Sunday at 10 a.m. at Round Lake, as well as Lake Phalen in St. Paul at noon.

Recent searches by authorities have been concentrated at Keller Lake in Maplewood, where new evidence was found last month.

According to an amended criminal complaint, the evidence included a plastic bag containing “a bloody pillow, pillow case, sports bra, shirt and sponge.” A DNA analysis shows the blood to be Kira Trevino’s.

Investigators in the case are also reportedly seeking access to Jeffrey Trevino’s Facebook page.

Earlier this week, friends told police that Jeffery Trevino had included “NWNP” in Facebook communications, the Pioneer Press reported. A friend reportedly told investigators that the NWNP acronym stands for “no witnesses, no proof.”
