Canterbury Park generated a record $1.61 million in simulcast wagers for the Kentucky Derby and other Churchill Downs races this past weekend, the Business Journal reports.
That’s 21 percent more than the $1.33 million a year ago. The previous Derby Day record of $1.48 million was set in 2004.
Canterbury estimates roughly 11,000 people were at the Shakopee horse track on Saturday despite any live racing of its own.
Canterbury’s 2013 season, which includes 26 races worth $1.76 million, kicks off May 17.
