Make-up game with Angels gives Twins busy September

The stretch run for the Twins in September is going to be a grind, especially if they’re in the mix for the American League Central division title.

They’ll play 24 consecutive days to close the regular season, thanks to a make-up game against the Angels.

Inclement weather wiped out the Twins April 17 home game against the Angels, and union representatives for both teams agreed to make up the game September 9 at Target Field.

“If we’re in the playoff hunt, that could make us or break us,” Twins reliever Brian Duensing said. “Hopefully we’re in that predicament where we’re chasing a playoff spot that late, but it’s not easy. Putting a team through that many days in a row without a day off is really difficult.”

Those final 24 games will be played against the Blue Jays, Angels, Athletics, Rays, White Sox, Tigers and Indians.
