After husband’s motorcycle crash, news anchor thanks viewers for support

ABC 6 News anchor Laura Lee in Rochester returned to work Monday three weeks after her husband was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident, and she offered a heartfelt on-air thank-you message to viewers for their support.

Lee had been off the air since the crash last month in Rochester, as her husband spent three weeks recovering at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, the station reported. He was recently transferred to a facility in St. Paul for rehabilitation, KAAL reports.

In a rare display of emotion from a TV news anchor, Lee’s voice cracked Monday night as she thanked viewers for their cards, letters, prayers and well-wishes. She said she has been overwhelmed by the support.

“I’ve never believed so much in miracles – the power of prayer, the power of love – until now,” Lee said. “It’s just unbelievable how your life can change in an instant, and we’re just so blessed that we’re given a second chance to rebuild it.”

Lee has also posted thank-you messages on her station Facebook page, along with a May 28 update that said her husband Abe has been making progress.

Lee was born and raised in Minneapolis, attended St. Thomas University and worked at KSTP in the Twin Cities on the production team, according to her station bio. She and her husband have three children, the bio says.
