WDIO in Duluth reports that a 45-year-old man from Big Lake died after becoming trapped beneath a cabin while trying to level the structure on Saturday evening. The station quotes the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.
WCCO reports the man was pinned by a structural beam at a northern Minnesota cabin where several people were using jacks as part of the construction project.
The Duluth News Tribune identified the victim as Randy Loui Sayler of Big Lake in Sherburne County. The office says Sayler was in rural Lavelle Township about 15 miles southeast of Hibbing. The newspaper reported that an officer was able to cut a hole in the floor of the cabin to extricate Sayler, but he died at the scene.
