Four Minnesota schools made the list of the 40 best career and technical colleges for U.S. military veterans.
The rankings come from Military Times EDGE magazine’s “Military Times Best for Vets: Career & Technical Colleges 2014 List.” Colleges were evaluated in five categories, including academic policies, academic quality, financial aid, university culture and student support.
WCCO reports the McNally Smith College of Music in St. Paul made the list, adding that McNally Smith was acknowledged because the school offers a Veterans Free Tuition Initiative, which increased its matching of veteran-specific federal financial aid that offers tuition for servicemen and women. The college also participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program for student support. More than 100 vets have attended McNally Smith.
Other Minnesota schools on the list include Pine Technical College in Pine City, Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount and the Minnesota School of Business in Richfield.
Military Times EDGE is a publication focusing on military transition, career and education information and is published by Gannett Government Media. The magazine is inserted into newsstand copies of Army Times, Navy Times, Marine Corps Times and Air Force Times.
