Three pedestrians were fatally hit by vehicles in separate incidents in the Twin Cities in the past two days.
The crashes happened in Bloomington, Edina and Belle Plaine – the latter being a hit-and-run, where authorities are still looking for the driver involved.
At least 227 people have been killed on Minnesota roads this year, according to the state’s Toward Zero Deaths initiative website.
More than two dozen of those have been pedestrian deaths, with Donna Berger, the director of the Office of Traffic Safety, telling BringMeTheNews in April motorists need to pay attention, and pedestrians need to be smart and safe when crossing the road.
In all of last year, 40 pedestrians were killed in traffic-related incidents, which is about average, Berger explained.

The driver – a 52-year-old man – is cooperating with the investigation, and he was not impaired at the time of the crash, however investigators are still waiting for results on the pedestrian, Eidsness said.
The city was hosting the Torchlight Concert at the park Sunday night, followed by fireworks, according to the Centennial Lakes Park Facebook page. It’s not clear if the victim was attending the event.
