Behold, ye clumsy-handed mortals: The chopstick-fork hybrid ‘chork’

Taking the infomercial staple “There’s got to be a better way!” to heart, we are apparently on the verge of an engineering, food-service-utensil breakthrough: The chork.

The chork is a fork on one end and cheater chopsticks on the other,which can be broken apart to create legitimate chopsticks. And after being spotted at a Panda Express event recently, people want it.

Lisa Jennings, of National Restaurant News, was one of the first high-profile people to tweet about Panda’s chork – causing a mini panic on the internet.

As Jennings explains in a story later, the chorks were available at a special launch event for the restaurant chain’s new General Tso’s Chicken.

But people like The Eater’s Daniela Galarza (and a lot of people on Twitter) are now all-in on the idea.

So when are they coming to Panda Express?

So here’s the not-super-great news if the chork got you all hot and bothered: Panda Express hasn’t committed to actually making the chork available.

A rep for Panda Express told BringMeTheNews they “cannot not confirm at this time if chorks will be available in store,” but did say they’ll have “some news to share related to the their availability soon.”

In a statement, Panda Express spokesperson Thien Ho said chorks are “a fun way to bring to life the concept behind American Chinese cuisine” the restaurant embraces.

But I want to use the chork

If you just want to ogle the chork from afar, you can get a “glimpse” of it at a cooking demo in Los Angeles Aug. 20.

Or you can go buy a bunch for yourself.

The chork is available at thechork.com – $7.99 for a 12-pack, $9.99 for a 24-pack. The company is based in Salt Lake City, and even has a how-to video here:
