Ryan Lochte and his American swimmer friends apparently weren’t robbed in Rio after all.
On Sunday, Lochte claimed that he and his teammates, Jack Conger, Gunnar Bentz and James Feigen, were robbed at gunpoint when men dressed as police officers approached them in their taxi. But according to The Associated Press, that’s not true at all.
The AP spoke with a Brazilian police official who said the swimmers lied, and Conger and Bentz have admitted the truth.
Filing a false police report in Brazil can lead to up to three years in jail, according to FOX News.
There’s also a report that the swimmers urinated on the side of the gas station.
Lochte has already returned to the US while the other three remain in Rio.
