The women’s 4×100-meter relay team of Tori Bowie, Tianna Bartoletta, Allyson Felix and English Gardner won the gold medal on Friday night with a time 41.01.
After initially not qualifying for the race, the U.S. was granted a re-run when officials ruled that Felix had dropped the baton because she was bumped by another runner. The team ended up running the second-fastest trial and found themselves in the final.
Their time of 41.01 is the second-fastest time in the women’s race and gives the U.S a second consecutive Olympic gold medal. Felix now owns five gold medals, which makes her the most decorated gold medalist of any track star.
Jamaica picked up the silver medal and Great Britain secured the bronze.
