A man found dead in an overturned car Monday afternoon had been there for “a long period of time,” the Minnesota State Patrol says.
A Minnesota Department of Transportation worker spotted the 2008 Toyota Scion in a ravine on Highway 94 near milepost 121 near Sauk Centre late Monday afternoon, the State Patrol’s report says.
Officials determined the Scion was traveling westbound on the interstate when it veered off the road to the right, overturned and landed upside down in the ravine. The State Patrol’s report shows the Scion was totaled.
There have been at least 236 traffic fatalities in Minnesota this year, according to the Office of Traffic Safety. Last year at this time there were 234 deaths on state roads.
