Colin Kaepernick wearing socks that disparage police officers

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick was caught at practice Wednesday wearing socks that show pigs wearing police caps, clearly part of his attempt to speak out against police brutality.

CBS Sports reports that Kaepernick has been wearing the socks since at least Aug. 10.

Kaepernick has been the center of debate in the NFL because he’s refusing to stand during the national anthem before games.

“People of color have been targeted by police,” Kaepernick said on Sunday. “So that’s a large part of it and they’re government officials. They are put in place by the government. So that’s something that this country has to change. There’s things we can do to hold them more accountable. Make those standards higher. You have people that practice law and are lawyers and go to school for eight years, but you can become a cop in six months and don’t have to have the same amount of training as a cosmetologist.”

Kaepernick doesn’t plan to stand during the 49ers-Chargers game in San Diego on Thursday night, the fourth straight game this preseason that he’ll sit while everyone else stands. Vikings left guard Alex Boone, who played with Kaepernick in San Francisco, said this week that Kaepernick needs to “have some f–––––– respect” for the military and stand.

There’s a chance the 49ers cut Kaepernick before Saturday and if they do there will be plenty of talks in Minnesota about whether the Vikings should sign him to help fill the void left by Teddy Bridgewater’s injury.
