Former NDSU quarterback Carson Wentz wasn’t supposed to start an NFL game before No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff, but while Goff sits in Los Angeles it certainly appears that Wentz will be taking snaps in Philadelphia.
According to NFL reporter Adam Caplan, Wentz will be the Eagles’ Week 1 starter if he’s healthy enough to play after suffering a ribs injury in the first week of the preseason. ESPN says as of last week Wentz’s fractured rib was only half healed.
The starting job was first reported to belong to Chase Daniels after the Eagles traded Sam Bradford to the Vikings, but that’s apparently not the case.
