After 199 days, Matt Olson is home.
He apparently “caught an edge” behind the net and fell head first into the boards, suffering a permanent injury to his spine.
The 20-year-old had been undergoing therapy at the Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute in Golden Valley, but got to return to his Isanti home on Wednesday, according to a post on his CaringBridge page.
He will continue outpatient therapy at Courage Kenny, where he has been “making steady progress,” the post reads.
Olson will be staying in a temporary bedroom in the living room of his family’s home until they can move into their new house.
“We are so excited for this next chapter and to watch the rest of this journey unfold,” the post says. “… He is going to take some time to settle in and learn his new routine before deciding what is next for him.”
The Olson family also thanked everyone for their support since Olson was injured.
