Carson Wentz is already leading the Rookie of the Year race after leading the Eagles to a 19-point win over the Cleveland Browns in his NFL debut Sunday.
The 23-year-old from Bismarck, North Dakota completed 22-of-37 passes for 278 and 2 perfect touchdown passes. Believe it or not, the video below of Carson “Can’t Miss” Wentz shows both of his touchdowns.
Wentz graded out as the Eagles’ best offensive player, according to Pro Football Focus.
“The two scores were marvelous throws, arced with touch into small windows. It is only one game of course, but Wentz showed everything that could be asked of a rookie quarterback. He was composed, he limited mistakes and he made amazing plays in key moments.”
Wentz was so good that he’s already turning non-believers into believers. NewJersey.com raved about him after the game, saying Wentz could be the franchise-changing quarterback that everyone hoped for – only doing it a lot faster than anyone expected.
Meanwhile, Fargo was filled with NDSU football fans on Saturday and Eagles fans on Sunday. WDAZ notes that Herd & Horns sports bar in Fargo was packed with Wentz jerseys as they served up Philly sandwiches to celebrate their favorite North Dakotan.
Wentz will get his first taste of prime time in Week 2 as the Eagles play the Bears at Soldier Field on Monday Night Football.
