Amazing Dozier hits 40th homer as Twins lose 91st game

It’s as rare as snow in August in Minnesota but Brian Dozier has done it. As the Twins lost to Detroit 4-2 for the 91st loss on the season, Dozier made history, becoming only the second Twins player and fourth second baseman in Major League Baseball history to hit 40 home runs in a season.

After the game, Dozier told reporters it hasn’t sunk in.

“I’m sure when the season is over, it will mean a lot more, but I just wish this was happening in [first-place] Cleveland’s position or Detroit’s position, where we were making a run,” Dozier said. “We’re still looking at losing 100 games….That takes something away from this.”

Dozier is just one homer behind Baltimore’s Mark Trumbo for the MLB lead.
