Beer drinkers help break the record for most money raised by a street pub

The pop-up street pub in Minneapolis over the weekend raised a lot of money for charity.

Oregon-based Deschutes Brewery’s street pub event brought in $104,723 for Second Harvest Heartland, one of the largest food banks in the nation.

That’s enough money to provide 314,169 meals for families in greater Minnesota.

The pub was only open for eight hours on Saturday, but it was enough time to set a record for the most funds raised by a single street pub.

Event organizers say they served 209 kegs of beer to approximately 20,000 people.

Last year – the first for the pop-up pub – the event helped raise nearly $80,000, which was enough for more than 200,000 meals.
