Vikings running back Adrian Peterson left Sunday’s win over the Packers with an injury to his right knee, and according to the Vikings it’s a torn meniscus.
KFAN’s Dan Barreiro interviewed Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer who offered the update on his star running back.
“We’re going through the evaluation process to figure out what the next procedure will be,” Zimmer later added in his afternoon press conference.
Zimmer explained that Peterson suffered the injury after his heel planted and he was hit from the side on a 5-yard run late in the third quarter. Peterson was helped off the field and wasn’t able to put any weight on it.
Zimmer added that he is not ready to rule Peterson out for Sunday’s Week 3 road matchup with the Carolina Panthers. When asked to clarify Peterson’s chances of playing, Zimmer said, “I don’t know.”
Former Titans running back Chris Johnson played through a torn meniscus in 2013 and finished that season with 1,077 yards and 6 touchdowns.
