A Dinkytown student bar is being replaced after 19 years

The Pourhouse is moving in.

A Dinkytown bar notorious among University of Minnesota students has closed and is being replaced by a new venue opening this fall.

The Library Bar has plied its trade on the corner of 4th Street Southeast and 13th Avenue since 1998, but is now a building site as its interior is gutted in preparation for new tenants.

It'll become the second Minneapolis location for The Pourhouse, which has its original spot on 5th Street South in downtown.

Whether they hold any affection for the Library or not, chances are current and former U of M students who frequented the place made some bad decisions there.

The news hasn't gone down too well with some on social media, among them Go 96.3's Dana Wessel, who admits "the bar sucked" but was a regular visitor when he was "young, drunk and stupid and that's where everyone went."

The Pourhouse has been sharing pictures of the demolition work it's carrying out inside the former Library Bar before it's remodeled.

A hiring fair will be held at the venue at 1301 SE 4th St. from noon to 6 p.m. from Friday to Sunday. You can find the job application here.
