She lived a good life.

First the iconic sign at the Uptown Arby's goes dark, now the 60-foot statue atop The Mermaid in Mounds View is coming down.

Don't worry, The Mermaid restaurant, bar, events center and bowling alley will remain open, but the giant mermaid statue has been ordered down because it's been deemed structurally unsafe.

Here's the sad announcement from The Mermaid's Facebook page.

At 54 years old, it was a life to short but a life well lived.

The Facebook post listed some of her lasting legacies: watching over live music with Armory workers in the '60s, overseeing the construction of a bowling alley in the '70s, and recovering after being knocked over by 100 mph winds in 1975.

She was one of the many iconic roadside attractions dotted around Minnesota.

We reached out to the world's largest ball of twine in Darwin for comment and did not immediately hear back.

In the meantime, pay your respects by honking your horn the next time you drive past The Mermaid off Highway 10 in Mounds View.
