After long absence, Pearl Jam rocks the Twin Cities

Pearl Jam hasn't performed in the Twin Cities for eight years, so fans of the band jammed the Xcel Energy Center for the Sunday night concert.

The last time the Seattle-based band played in Minnesota was 2006 - and it wasn't the headliner. It opened for Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, the Star Tribune reports.

Fans have been waiting impatiently for Pearl Jam to return to Minnesota, but for some reason the band bypassed the Twin Cities on several recent tours. Those fans were also pretty irritated when Pearl Jam performed a few songs for the Target Corp's employee meeting in 2011, the Star Tribune notes.

But all seems to be forgiven at the X. Here are a few more tweets from the concert.
