Auditions will take place Saturday at the Mall of America in Bloomington for the Norwegian reality show "The Great Norway Adventure," Minnesota Public Radio reported.

Six Minnesotans have been featured in past shows, which pits contestants against each other in various contests. A casting director told MPR that the show is "a friendly competition" rather than a "backstabbing reality show."

Contestants must be 18 years or older and of Norwegian ancestry.

The show's ultimate prize is $50,000 and the chance for contestants to meet their Norwegian families.

The auditions were scheduled for 11 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

According to the Minnesota-based Norway House, interested parties can also submit their applications and video auditions online until Jan. 6.

See a clip from "The Great Norwegian Adventure" below (note: Norwegian narration, but contestants speak in English).
