Austin, Minn. self-publishing phenomenon Amanda Hocking has sold another series of books to publisher St. Martin's Press following her deal for her "Watersong" series, the New York Times reports.

According to St. Martin's, Hocking's new series, "The Kanin Chronicles," is a paranormal trilogy for teens. The first book is due out in the summer of 2014.

Hocking, who sold more than a million copies of her works as a self-publisher, signed a $2 million contract with St. Martin's for the four-book "Watersong" series in 2011. The first book was released last fall.

Terms of the deal for "The Kanin Chronicles" were not disclosed.

In an announcement about the book series on her blog Thursday, Hocking, 28, gave some insight into the upcoming "Kanin" series, which she says is connected to her acclaimed "Trylle Trilogy" of books.

"As you may recall, the Kanin are another tribe of trolls, who are mentioned in the Trylle book but not really seen," Hocking wrote. "You may also recall that in 'Ascend' (the final book in the Trylle Trilogy), Finn's mother and younger sister Ember were going to stay with relatives in the Kanin tribe."

"So putting those pieces together, you may feel its safe to assume that the Kanin Chronicles are a spinoff series from the Trylleabout Ember Holmes," Hocking added.

Meanwhile, Hocking is awaiting the production of the first movie based on the Trylle Trilogy. The rights to Hocking’s bestselling novels “Switched,” “Torn” and “Ascend” were purchased by Media Rights Capital in 2011.

"District 9" Oscar nominated screenwriter Terri Tatchell is attached to write the screenplays.
