'Breakfast' can no longer wait for Prince

After teasing the song with a YouTube clip and a parody photo featuring comedian Dave Chappelle, Prince is no longer making fans wait for his new single, The Associated Press reports.

The Minnesota music icon released "Breakfast Can Wait" on his 3rdEye Girl website Tuesday.

The release of "Breakfast Can Wait" comes a couple weeks after Prince announced the single on his new Twitter account, along with cover art for the single featuring Chappelle as the Purple One in a 2004 skit from Comedy Central's "Chappelle's Show." A clip of the song posted on YouTube featured a short instrumental passage from the tune.

USA Today reports that, as the title suggests, the song is about someone asking their romantic partner to stay in bed rather than eat breakfast.

According to The AP, "Breakfast Can Wait" is being released through Prince's new distribution deal with the independent company Kobalt Label Services.

Prince is currently working on a new album that will be called "Plectrum Electrum."
