We at BringMeTheNews are known as self horn-tooters when it's called for.

This time we're pleased to acknowledge that our streak continues: The Minnesota Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists honored BringMeTheNews with the top award for radio newscasts in the state for the fourth year in a row. It's the second year that BringMeTheNews has swept the newscast category, winning First, Second and Third place. The judges say they appreciate the "urgent but conversational" delivery.

CEO Rick Kupchella says he's gratified to receive acknowledgement from other journalists and attributes the success to the BMTN staff's ongoing commitment to delivering an excellent product.

"Our producers and anchors make us proud," Kupchella said. "And a special thanks to the 45 radio stations across this state that have carried our product day in and day out. They believed in what we are doing from the beginning."

As he was presenting the award, WCCO anchor and Page One emcee Jason DeRusha wondered out loud how BMTN manages to keep winning year after year.

He joked about BMTN’s model of combining news from many different sources asking, ‘How does it work? Do you take newscasts from different radio stations, put them together and then take the credit?' Good question, Jason .

BMTN would also like to congratulate the other fine journalists from around Minnesota who brought home awards from the SPJ Page One banquet.
