Calling all Midwest sitcom writers: Entries wanted

Are you a talented creator of funny television scripts living or going to school in Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North Dakota or South Dakota?

The Upper Midwest Sitcom Writing Competition is looking for you, the Associated Press says.

The contest is looking for original scripts that will eventually go to a table read-through with actors. According to the flyer, the winner gets their script under the eyes of a top development executive at 20th Century Fox Productions and vice president of development at 821 productions.

There are varying entry fees. The deadline for submission is midnight on Oct. 15.

Television producer and current writer for Saturday Night Live Bo Kaprall and comedian Scott Hansen created the competition.

The judging panel includes several accomplished writers, producers and comedians, including Modern Family's Fred Willard and Louie Anderson.
