Carlson picked as new evening co-anchor at FOX 9

FOX 9 has named Kelcey Carlson as the new co-anchor of FOX 9 News at 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. She will join Jeff Passolt to anchor the two newscasts.

Carlson comes to the Twin Cities from WRAL-TV in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was the main morning anchor and an investigative reporter.

FOX 9 says that Carlson has Midwest roots, as she grew up in Indiana and graduated from Indiana University.

The Star Tribune reports that Carlson takes over for Heidi Collins who left in July after a somewhat rocky three-year stint at the station.

Carlson and her husband Dave have two boys Charlie and Kellen, and a dog.

"This opportunity is like winning the jackpot," she said. I have fond memories of my summer vacations in the Midwest and I'm so excited to move back here with my family and be a part of the talented FOX 9 news team."

FOX 9 reports that Carlson will be on the air in February.
