Cold weather, snapped mast in Duluth doesn't deter Tall Ships fest

Duluth is holding its annual Tall Ships Festival this weekend, and day 3 brought a round of cold weather more suitably for September on the North Shore.

But as the Duluth News Tribune reports, vessel aficionados are undeterred, even if the weather is "iffy."

“It’s the North Shore,” one fan tells the Trib. “You never know what you’re going to get.”

Even a snapped mast on a schooner from Bayfield, Wis., called Zeeto didn't bother passengers on board.

The festival in the past has drawn a quarter-million visitors and $15 million to Duluth; no head count as of yet for 2013, but numbers were expected to be within that range.
