Colorful Christmas trees are all the rage this holiday season

Because who says evergreens have to be green?
Author:

Many people are still shopping and looking for the perfect Christmas tree (unless you're incredibly organized and got decorations up right after Thanksgiving).

And this year, there are some pretty wild trees to choose from. Thanks to a new trend, several tree farms around the country are now offering real trees dyed in different colors.

According to Good Housekeeping, the trees are transformed by special dyes and paints, with some farms providing a tree-tinting service with the color of your choice.

The dyeing process can even help preserve the tree's needles, the magazine said - so your tree could last through Christmas, New Year's, and beyond.

This farm in New Jersey uses a fireproof, latex-based paint that is specially made for Christmas trees:

One downfall? The dye will only adhere to the tree when temperatures are 40 degrees or warmer, TODAY reports, so if you’re thinking about getting a colored tree, you probably shouldn't wait until the day before Christmas.

With a bit of searching, we found that Jan's Christmas Trees in Clear Lake is one place in Minnesota where you can find these magical trees. But there's bound to be more as the trend is spreading online.

And hey, if you can't decide on one color, there's always full-on rainbow.

But if you're a traditionalist, you should definitely head on over to the Uptown Tree Lot - Calhoun Square and Go Media are selling real trees to benefit the local community.

The Tree Lot will be open daily until December 23rd, Monday through Saturday 10 a.m.-9 p.m. and 12 p.m.-6 p.m. Sundays.
