A beloved Twin Cities coffee shop is opening a new location.

Spyhouse Coffee has been a favorite in Minneapolis since it first opened on Nicollet Avenue in 2000. Founder and owner Christian Johnson told Fresh Cup Magazine he had only seven dollars left in his pocket, a bank loan, and experience as a barista when he bought the place.

But his focus on high-quality, responsibly-sourced coffee plus the shop's tidy and attractive, vintage-inspired design quickly grew a following, allowing Johnson to expand to three additional stores and start roasting his own beans.

Today, Spyhouse is routinely named one of the best places for coffee in the Twin Cities, and the stores are typically packed.

But the coffee cafes were a Minneapolis institution, until now. That's right, St. Paul – Spyhouse is crossing the river.

The shop made the announcement on social media Sunday, teasing "Rumours in the Air. SPYHOUSE - ST PAUL COMING IN 2017."

From the looks of the photo, the new space will be at the corner of Palace and Snelling Avenues.

The post doesn't offer many other details, besides that we can expect it to open sometime this year. Until then, you'll just have to get your espresso fix in Minneapolis.
