Dave Chappelle adds third Pantages Theatre show

It appears that as long as Minnesotans keep buying tickets, Dave Chappelle will keep doing stand-up gigs here.

City Pages says the former Comedy Central funnyman has added yet another show to his weeklong run in Minneapolis.

After most of the tickets were snatched up to his Friday 7:30 p.m. gig at the Pantages Theatre, Chappelle on Tuesday added a Saturday 7:30 p.m. show at the venue.

Then on Wednesday afternoon, Chappelle's promoter added another show for Friday night, this time at 10 p.m.

Tickets are $55 and available through Ticketmaster.

Chappelle, meanwhile, is in the middle of his eight-show run at First Avenue, which wraps up Thursday. The venue has also opened up the sale of some standing-room-only tickets for Wednesday night's 7:30 p.m. show.

Star Tribune critic Rohan Preston caught the first of his two shows Monday, and wrote that Chappelle was almost apologetic for being too filthy.

“Even by his profane standards, the stories were unusually crass, with extended guy jokes,” Preston wrote.

Chappelle's first show Monday was 90 minutes, a mere prelude to a nearly three-hour long second set, the Star Tribune says.
