More changes are afoot in the downtown Minneapolis dining scene, with Devil's Advocate closing and reopening a few blocks away.
The bar and restaurant is shutting its doors this Sunday, it announced on its Facebook page, after the building it occupies on S. 10th St. was sold and notice was served for it to vacate.
But it still has a future in Minneapolis at the expense of Dan Kelly's, the Irish bar on S. 7th St. between 2nd and 3rd Aves, which will shut down to make way for a remodeled Devil's Advocate.
Both bars are owned by Erik Forsberg, with CityPages reporting he bought Dan Kelly's last year with this plan in mind.
Posting on Twitter, it was revealed that the bar's new, updated incarnation will be called "Devil's Advocate 2.0," and that the remodel of the Dan Kelly's spot will include a new patio.
The menu at Devil's Advocate will be "integrated" with the Irish bar's.
Those who are fans of the original, meanwhile, are being encouraged to "come party with us this week at Devil's," the Facebook post said.
The new location is expected to be open by August.
