UPDATE: DJ Bonics and Wiz Khalifa's performance on 'The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon' will air tonight, December 5. Here's our original story on its filming and why it was delayed.
One of our own, Go 95.3's daytime host DJ Bonics, was scheduled to appear on Friday's episode of The Tonight Show.
But viewers might never see the performance.
The Philadelphia native has been hip-hop superstar Wiz Khalifa's tour DJ and music director for the past seven years. The two have performed on The Tonight Show together once before, so Bonics was excited to announce a second appearance on Instagram earlier this week.
On the morning of the taping, he shared some behind the scenes footage from the studio at Rockefeller Plaza. In one photo, Bonics posed behind host Jimmy Fallon's desk.
"Behind the desk @jimmyfallon ! #TGOD If everything goes as scheduled @wizkhalifa @tydollasign and the gang will be on tonight!" Bonics wrote in the post.
But as we all know, life often does not go as planned.
The taping was scrapped when Fallon had to attend to a family emergency. A rerun episode ran in its place.
By Saturday evening, fans learned the heartbreaking news that Fallon's mother Gloria had passed away. She'd been sick and in the hospital with a brief illness at the time the taping was canceled.
According to Variety, tapings for The Tonight Show have been canceled for the week of November 6-10, and repeat episodes will be aired instead.
